Scholarships

Clear Creek Communications continues its commitment to higher education by supporting local students with college scholarships. Annually, the board of directors reviews the scholarship fund and determines the number and amount of scholarship awards to be given the following year. In 2013, four awards in the amount of $2,500 each will be available.

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must be a high school senior maintaining at least a "B" average and be an active member of Clear Creek Communications (or immediate family member legally residing in the member's home who subscribes to Clear Creek Communications services.) In addition, the student must be planning to attend a college or trade school certified by the Northwest Accreditation Association, another regional accreditation association, or the National Association of Trade and Technical schools. The application deadline was March 1, 2013. Winners for the 2013 scholarships will be announced at the annual board meeting on April 25, 2013.

For more information or questions regarding our scholarship program, please check back in November 2013 or contact Jay Henke at (503) 631-2101 or by email at info@clearcreek.coop.

Other Scholarship Opportunities:
As a member of two national telecommunications associations, Clear Creek Communications cooperative members may be eligible to apply for two other college scholarship programs. Eligibility and application requirements for the Foundation For Rural Service (FRS) and the Foundation For Rural Education and Development (FRED) are explained below.

Foundation For Rural Service (FRS)
Recognizing the disparities between rural and urban access to higher education, the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) offers an annual college scholarship program to help further higher education among rural youth. Awards are granted to students sponsored by a National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) member company and, if chosen, are awarded $2,000 by FRS in addition to a $500 scholarship match by their sponsoring company. Students whose parents are active members of Clear Creek Communications may apply for the scholarships. Please check back in November 2013 for more information.

Foundation for Rural Education and Development (FRED)
Each year, the Foundation for Rural Education and Development awards scholarships to rural America's most accomplished and intelligent students. Students whose parents are active members of Clear Creek Communications may apply for the scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $5,000. Please check back in November 2013 for more information.
